Joey Hood

District 35 – Attala, Choctaw, Webster, Winston

Joey is a self-employed attorney in Ackerman. He was elected to office in 2011 and is
currently State Representative of District 35 in the Mississippi Legislature. Joey serves as a
committee member on Appropriations, Energy, Medicaid, Public Health and Human Services,
Public Utilities and State Affairs. He also serves as Chairman of Judiciary A.

Joey and his family live in Choctaw County. After graduating from French Camp Academy,
he attended Mississippi State University where he received Bachelor of Arts degrees in political
science and history. After graduating from Mississippi State University, Joey moved to Washington,
D.C. to work for former United States Senator Trent Lott. He later returned to Mississippi to attend
Mississippi College School of Law where he received his law degree. Afterwards, Joey worked as
a law clerk on the Mississippi Court of Appeals for Judge David Chandler.

Joey is married to the former Cynthia Oswalt of Ackerman. They have two children, Jonah,
age 16 and Owen, age 14. Cynthia and Joey attend Crape Creek Baptist Church.
