MRPC Rule 5.5: Now Requires In-House Counsel Registration
Effective July 1, 2021, any attorney that is not licensed in Mississippi, but serves as an in-house corporate lawyer, government lawyer, is employed to render legal services to an employer or establishes an office or other systematic presence in Mississippi, must register with The Mississippi Bar and pay an annual registration. This change is the result of an amendment adopted by the Supreme Court of Mississippi on June 18, 2021 to Rule 5.5(d) of the Mississippi Rules of Professional Conduct.
Attorneys that are not licensed in Mississippi may register by completing the below form and submitting it to the Bar’s Membership department at membership@msbar.org.
