Member Highlight – Agent: Gretchen Luke Gentry
Gretchen Luke Gentry’s journey is one of excellence, resilience, and passion—hallmarks of a career and life deeply rooted in both professional success and community engagement.
Gretchen’s story began with her academic achievements at the University of Mississippi, where she graduated cum laude from the School of Liberal Arts and earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Mississippi School of Law. During her time there, she was a member of the prestigious Mississippi Law Journal and Delta Theta Phi Legal Fraternity, earning recognition with the Edith Waits Turley Memorial Scholarship.
Initially, Gretchen pursued litigation, a field that honed her skills and legal acumen. Yet, she found her calling in real estate law. What began with handling appraisal reviews and contracts evolved into a focus on complex commercial transactions, leading her to co-own Covenant Title, LLC and Reeves, Gentry & Vitart, PLLC in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Today, she holds an AV Preeminent peer rating from Martindale-Hubbell, a testament to her professional excellence.
Her work spans residential and commercial real estate, from single-family homes to intricate multi-investor developments. While her cases can sometimes present challenges, Gretchen thrives on the collaborative nature of transactional law, finding satisfaction in helping parties work toward shared goals.
Through her career, Gretchen has learned the importance of empathy. She treats every transaction as if it were her own, recognizing that moving can represent both a person’s most challenging and most rewarding day. Her dedication has earned her not only repeat clients but also a role as a valued member of her community. Serving on the boards of organizations like Jackson Youth for Christ, the Junior League of Jackson, and the Mississippi Children’s Museum Partners Board has allowed her to contribute beyond her professional practice.
Opening Covenant Title, LLC remains one of Gretchen’s proudest accomplishments. The heartfelt notes and gifts from clients affirm her belief in the power of outstanding service. She credits her team, her company’s most prized asset, for its success and reputation for excellence at an affordable rate.
Her career has brought many memorable moments, such as a humorous incident involving a loan package with a mistakenly offensive middle name on a name affidavit. Moments like these add levity to her otherwise demanding work.
A historian at heart, Gretchen relishes learning about the properties she helps close. Over the years, she has worked with a diverse array of clients, including local heroes, legal figures, and entertainers, as well as some of the nation’s top real estate professionals. These interactions have fueled her ongoing growth and passion for her profession.
Beyond her career, Gretchen’s life revolves around her family. She is married to Curtis Gentry, a commercial appraiser with an MAI designation, and together they have two children, Emma, 20, and Cade, 17. Her parents, Tommy and Susan Luke, hail from Oxford, Mississippi, while her brothers, Tom and Matt Luke, have made names for themselves as football coaches.
When she’s not immersed in work, Gretchen enjoys traveling, attending sporting events, and spending quality time with loved ones. Among her favorite experiences are a private tour of the Vatican in Rome and guiding tours of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., including its historic old Senate Wing.
Gretchen’s warmth and humor shine through her personal interactions. She loves meeting new people and strives to make everyone feel welcome in her office. However, she emphasizes the importance of appointments to ensure she can dedicate the time and attention her clients deserve.
For Gretchen, her work is more than a career. It’s a reflection of her love for history, her community, and the people she serves. With a commitment to excellence and a deep sense of purpose, she continues to make a meaningful impact, one transaction at a time.
