With more than 30 years in the title industry, Carrie Macon with Stewart Title Guaranty Company is an Alabama-based real estate abstractor who has built a career defined by adaptability, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Currently she oversees title search operations across Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi—with plans to expand into Louisiana—her work plays a critical role in ensuring secure and seamless real estate transactions throughout the region.
She is a graduate of the University of South Alabama, her path into title work was anything but conventional. Like many in the industry, her academic background was unrelated to her eventual profession. However, what began on the policy side of title insurance quickly evolved into a comprehensive career spanning commitments, clearing requirements, survey review, escrows, and closings. Today, her primary focus lies in running full title chains, a highly specialized area requiring both precision and deep industry knowledge.
Specializing primarily in residential transactions, she brings a meticulous approach to every project. Despite decades of experience, her work continues to offer new challenges and learning opportunities. “I still learn something new every day,” she notes, emphasizing that a strong, supportive team environment makes the journey even more rewarding.
Over the years, the industry has undergone significant transformation. Increased regulation, shifting demographics, and rapid technological advancement have reshaped the landscape—along with the introduction of oversight measures such as FinCEN. Through it all, adaptability has remained essential.
Success in the title business, she explains, rests on a foundation of reputation, integrity, and problem-solving ability. From identifying liens and easements to resolving chain-of-title discrepancies, the work requires both technical expertise and strong communication skills. Managing expectations among all parties—from buyers and sellers to lenders and underwriters—is key to achieving smooth closings and lasting professional relationships.

The experience, including time spent with fellow leaders and the organization’s CEO, proved both meaningful and life-changing.
Even in a detail-oriented field, moments of levity emerge. Reviewing historical property records often reveals unexpected—and sometimes amusing—glimpses into the past, from unusual restrictive covenants to vividly documented family disputes preserved for generations.

Outside the office, life revolves around family and community. Time is most often spent with her husband, Chris, her three grown children and their spouses, and seven grandchildren, along with her puppy, Cookie, frequently joining in the gatherings. She is also actively involved in her church, working closely with high school girls in a mentorship role.
Though hobbies are few with such a full family life, travel has provided memorable experiences. A favorite trip to Germany included crossing multiple countries in a single day and culminated in skiing in Switzerland—an unforgettable highlight.
Known for being loyal, kind, and dependable, she brings the same level of dedication to both personal and professional life. With a strong work ethic, exceptional organizational skills, and a keen attention to detail, she continues to set a high standard in the title industry—one carefully researched property at a time.
