RIN/RON Reprieve: Extended 30 days
Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves has extended the State of Emergency Order that was initially set to expire on Sunday. The State of Emergency will be extended for 30 more days. It was initially set to expire on Aug. 15, which means the new expiration will be September 14, 2021.
Why is this important from a title perspective? This extends the availability of RON and RIN in Mississippi for another 30 days! Executive Order 1467, which was executed on April 7, 2020, authorized remote notarization and remote online notarization in Mississippi “for the duration of the State of Emergency and for fourteen days thereafter.” Since the State of Emergency has been extended to September 14, 2021, that means RON and RIN will now be available through September 28, 2021.
Reeves did not issue a mask mandate or restrictions for schools.
Since March 4, 2020, Reeves has issued at least 78 executive orders and supplements to executive orders due to the COVID pandemic.
