Tyler McCaughn
Tyler McCaughn is the sole member of J. Tyler McCaughn, PLLC located in Newton, MS where he assists individuals through his general law practice. McCaughn and his father also own a cow-calf beef operation located in Morton, MS where they specialize in raising Charolais stock. In 2020, McCaughn was sworn in to represent District 31 in the Mississippi State Senate. In this capacity, he chairs the Senate Forestry Committee and serves as Vice-Chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee. In 2022, McCaughn was appointed as the chairman of the Senate Judiciary A Civil Subcommittee where he manages the subcommittee’s initial review of civil legislation assigned to that committee. McCaughn’s work in the Senate has allowed him to work hand in hand with associations across the state to strengthen laws within the legal profession, to support Mississippi’s small farmers, and to push legislation aimed at spurring economic growth throughout the forest products industries statewide.
In his spare time, McCaughn is an advid woodworker, hunter, and member of various community organizations. McCaughn resides in Morton, MS with wife, Carrie Balentine McCaughn. They attend Forest United Methodist Church and stay involved in the community.
