Joey Fillingane

Joey Fillingane (Republican Party) is a member of the Mississippi State Senate, representing District 41 (Covington, Forrest, Jefferson Davis, Lamar, Smith). He assumed office in 2008. His current term ends on January 2, 2024.

Fillingane (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the Mississippi State Senate to represent District 41. He won in the general election on November 5, 2019.

Fillingane served in the Mississippi House of Representatives from 2000 to 2006.

Primary Author of the Voter Identification (ID) Initiative
(Was successfully passed on the statewide ballot November 2011)

Promoted Tort Reform in 2002 and 2004 as a member of the Mississippi House
and member of the House Conservative Coalition during those years

Promoted various Pro-Life pieces of legislation that has made Mississippi one of the
Safest states in the nation for the unborn including the 15 week abortion ban in 2018 which led ultimately to the Dobbs case which the US Supreme Court used to overturn Roe v. Wade

Authored and passed the largest Tax-Relief Package in Mississippi History in the 2016

Authored various Economic Development bills that has made Mississippi more
competitive in locating businesses and industry to our State
