Jansen T. Owen

Representative Jansen Owen is currently serving his first term in the Mississippi House of Representatives, having been first elected to represent District 106 (Pearl River and Lamar Counties) in 2019. As a member of the Mississippi House, Representative Owen serves on the House Transportation, Agriculture, Judiciary B, Elections & Apportionment, County Affairs, and Youth & Family Affairs Committees.

Prior to his legislative service, Representative Owen served as the chief deputy chancery clerk, deputy circuit clerk, and law clerk to the county court in Pearl River County. Representative Owen attended Tulane Law School in New Orleans, earning his juris doctor degree in 2019. While at Tulane, Owen served as a managing editor of the Tulane Law Review, as a student defense attorney with the Tulane Criminal Justice Clinic, and as a student prosecutor under Mississippi’s Limited Practice Act with the District Attorney’s Office for the 2nd Circuit Court District in Hancock and Harrison Counties. Owen received his B.A. from the University of Southern Mississippi and his A.A. from Pearl River Community College.

When not serving in the Legislature, Representative Owen practices law as a solo attorney at his recently opened law firm, Owen Law Firm, PLLC, in Pearl River County.

Representative Owen is a member of the National Rifle Association, Poplarville Area Chamber of Commerce, Pearl River County Bar Association, Mississippi Bar Association, American Bar Association, and The Federalist Society.

Representative Owen is married to the former Colbie Marshall and they one son, Darby. They reside in Pearl River County and are of the Baptist faith.
