Member Highlight – Agent: Katy Boyer
Katy Boyer-Langston grew up in Vancleave, Mississippi, and received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Auburn University at Montgomery in 2009. She worked as a title abstractor before deciding to go to law school. Once she received a juris doctorate from the Jones School of Law at Faulkner University in 2012, she knew she wanted to practice real estate law.
Katy’s experience in abstracting gave her the foundation she needed to become co-owner of Island Winds Title Company, LLC, with offices in Pascagoula, Ocean Springs, and Moss Point. She primarily handles residential closings and exemplifies her company’s motto: “We make closing a breeze!” She truly enjoys helping people get to the closing table and says of her team, “We make it a point for people to feel comfortable in our office.” Becoming a business partner with Michael Fondren in Island Winds is the decision that Katy considers to be one of her greatest accomplishments.
In her practice experience, Katy has learned to “be kind to people because they always remember it.” Her advice for anyone starting out in the title business would be to be patient because “it’s not easy and it’s not glamourous.” One of the funniest moments she encountered at the closing table was an argument between the buyer and seller over plants.
Katy credits her parents, who moved to Mississippi from Oklahoma, with being instrumental in her becoming a lawyer. She is close to her brother, sister-in-law, and niece who live in D’Iberville and loves spending time with family. When not working, Katy enjoys horseback riding and traveling.
