Member Highlight – Agent: Corey Aiken
A native of Ridgeland, Mississippi, Corey Aiken began her legal career as a staff attorney at the Mississippi Department of Insurance for a year before joining Butler Snow LLP in 2014. Corey attended Ole Miss for both her undergraduate degree (2010) and law school degree (2013). Her current practice focuses on commercial real estate transactions. She primarily represents developers in the acquisition and development of complex projects and landlords and tenants in commercial leasing. Corey says that the most enjoyable part of her practice is seeing local projects in which she has been involved come to life.
Because Corey is heavily involved in her firm’s title insurance practice, she has gained an appreciation for the importance of insurance coverage in almost every deal. Her advice to newcomers in the business would be, “Take the time to really learn the ins and outs of title insurance. It will benefit your clients to be able to speak the lingo and secure them the appropriate coverage on their title policies.”
Corey was once a finalist for the Jackson Free Press’s Best of Jackson: Lawyers and Law Firms. Although she cannot recall the exact results of the voting, she says her parents like to tell their friends that she lost to Richard Schwartz.
Corey is married to Robert Aiken, a fellow Ole Miss grad, and has two children – Allie (5) and Rhett (3). They are active members of Fondren Church in Jackson and enjoy traveling when they can.
