This course covers the drawing of metes and bounds legal descriptions. The purpose of this course is to provide a detailed understanding of how to describe real property using the metes and bounds system.
After completing the assigned readings in this course, you should be able to:
- Understand map scale
- Use a land measure compass
- Draw parcels from a metes and bounds legal description
To get the most out of this course, we recommend that you use (1) a 5-inch land measure compass with cursor arm divided into four 0-90° quadrants to lay out a property description, and (2) a three-sided 12” triangular engineer's scale graduated in 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 parts to the inch.
