Joe Powell is Vice President and Managing Underwriting Counsel for Fidelity National Title Group – National Commercial Services Southeast. In that role, he leads a team of lawyers and commercial transaction staff in Atlanta charged with assessing risk and providing a high-level, single point of contact service in significant transactions throughout the country. Previous to this, Joe served as Area Counsel with ALMA Agency operations for over seven years in Birmingham, underwriting for title insurance agents and approved attorneys throughout Alabama, Mississippi, and Arkansas on all Company brands. Prior to joining FNTG in 2011, he was in private practice in Tuscaloosa and was a Castle Club agent for Chicago Title. A 1993 graduate of the University of Alabama and 1997 graduate of its School of Law, Joe is admitted to practice law in Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia, and maintains his Alabama title insurance agent license. Committed to lifelong learning, Joe earned the LL.M. in Risk Management from Texas A&M University School of Law in 2019. In 2016, Joe earned the National Title Professional™ Designation from the American Land Title Association and has been re-certified for a second three-year term. In May 2018, Joe received the Outstanding Advocate Award from ALTA’s Title Action Network. Joe and his wife of 24 years, Mikki, have 4 children and serve actively at Northport Baptist Church.
