AC23: Estate Planning and Trust Law Changes

In this course, we will discuss a number of issues related to estate planning and trust law changes, many of which were part of bills that became effective in 2020. Topics to be discussed include Transfer on Death Deeds, creditors’ notices for revocable trusts, certificates and memoranda of trust, updates to certain dollar figures, creditors’ rights to trust assets, disclaimers, revocation by divorce, and other changes. In addition, the discussion will include legislative changes which may be needed to address certain technical corrections and/or optimal administration of these provisions. The hope is that participants will become more familiar with these changes and better understand how they affect practice.
